Synopsis: "Catalia "Cat" Fisa is a powerful clairvoyant known as the Kingmaker. This smart-mouthed soothsayer has no interest in her powers and would much rather fly under the radar, far from the clutches of her homicidal mother. But when an ambitious warlord captures her, she may not have a choice…
Griffin is intent on bringing peace to his newly conquered realm in the magic-deprived south. When he discovers Cat is the Kingmaker, he abducts her. But Cat will do everything in her power to avoid her dangerous destiny and battle her captor at every turn. Although up for the battle, Griffin would prefer for Cat to help his people willingly, and he's ready to do whatever it takes to coax her…even if that means falling in love with her."
My Review: I think I have definitely found my reading niche, fantasy romance. This book hit all the keys for me, action, adventure, romance, strong female, strong male, etc. It did have it's issues but while some of them tugged at me a bit, in the end I really didn't care. It relationship between Cat and Griffin is a little along the Stockholm syndrome lines, and Cat tends to be an active Mary Sue, constantly sacrificing herself even though she claims she doesn't care, but again it was such a thrilling and page turning read that I didn't mind. With that said, the constant banter between the all the characters was fun and entertaining. The sub-characters are also well rounded and individual characters that stand out throughout the book. I did have a little struggle with the addition of familiar Gods and Goddesses in an unfamiliar fantasy world. There was already so much world building, backstory and action going on, it kind of threw me for a loop every time they were mentioned. I think maybe creating new ones modeled after them would have been a better option, but then it would have resulted in a lot more world building. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book to be released (even though at the time of reading this one it hasn't even been released).

My Rating: This was a book that I just could not stop reading and so glad that I got the opportunity to enjoy it. I can't help but give it a rating of Four Paws and a Stump Wag!
Note: There are adult themes and situations contained in this book, it is not a YA fantasy but an adult fantasy romance.
I received this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
