Review of One Summer Night by Caridad Pineiro

Read for: Requested Review/ Netgalley & Meeting her at FILWNE

Synopsis: "Smart, mainstream contemporary romance from bestselling author Caridad Pineiro. Millions of people visit the Jersey Shore every year, for beaches, boardwalks, sand, sun, and summer fun. This romantic series features families that go back generations on the shore, their ties to New York City, and their love for the Shore, and each other.

An offer that's impossible to accept...

Maggie Sinclair has tried everything to save her family's business, including mortgaging their beloved beach house on the Jersey shore. But now, she's out of options.

The Sinclair and Pierce families have been neighbors and enemies for almost thirty years. That hasn't stopped Owen Pierce from crushing on Maggie, and he's determined to invest in her success. Now he has to convince her that he's more than just trouble with a capital T..."

My Review: I received this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I have a few books by Pineiro waiting to be read on my shelf and I will be meeting her at the Fall in Love with New England convention coming up this weekend, so I really wanted to read her most recent release first. While the title denotes to summer, the setting is more of a fall to winter setting, which was perfect for me. It was a little predictable with a lot of the familiar issues that arise in contemporary romance to put a road block up in the couple's path. With that said, Pineiro did turn the marriage of convenience on its head a bit and that was great to see. I did enjoy the characters, and really connected with Maggie's go get them, all business attitude, but I must say that some of the side characters really captured my attention. I really enjoyed Jonathan and the brother relationship with Owen was fantastic, I am also a little attached to Carlo already and can't wait to get to that book.

My Rating: While this was a great romance for this time of year and I enjoyed the setting and characters, I just was never really able to fully settle into the story. I kept picking it up and putting it down so it took me far longer than normal to read.  I give this one a rating of Three Paws.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally I had some time to breath this last weekend! I was supposed to be on vacation all last week but it was just too crazy to take time away, but I did manage to take Friday off.  In fact it was so busy I wasn't able to get much reading done all last week until the weekend. I had participated in two different readathons, first was Book Busters, which I failed at and wasn't able to get 2 of the 5 books planned completed.  I also participated in a Get Graphic readathon for graphic novels over the weekend and that one went much better and I managed to read 5 of the 6 graphic novels I had planned.  I was also able to get a little time in for some crafting yesterday during the holiday. It was all much needed down time!
This week is going to be another crazy week it is obviously a short week in the office which is always super busy and stressful. I also am taking Friday off and heading up to the Fall in Love with New England romance author/ reader convention. I attended last year with a friend of mine and we had so much fun we had to go again this year!!
I really can't believe we are so far into October already, there is so much I want to do and read still this year!
Hope you are all having fun reading adventures!
