Christmas Fun Day 13: Nativity Set

Hello and Happy Holiday season everyone! In addition to my Advent Reads event this holiday season, I thought I would post earlier in the day with different things we do each day to have fun and celebrate this season. I hope you will join us and also maybe share some of your own traditions or ways you celebrate.

So years ago my mom was big into ceramics and she made each of us a beautiful glazed ceramic nativity set to display when we got our own houses. My set was proudly displayed on our TV stand for several years until Munchkin came along. It wouldn't be Christmas without my nativity but when I pulled it out that first year, I said no way was I taking the risk that it would get broken. So I went on a hunt for a child friendly set and found this adorable Little People set. It signs Away in a Manger and Silent Night and has all the animals and shepherds and angels (I could have gotten the wise men but it was pretty pricey already). We have put it out each year for Munchkin and each year it is like a new toy!

Do you have a nativity set? Or do you have a family heirloom decoration that is just not safe for little ones that you have had to put away temporarily? Did you find a replacement for it instead so it still feels like the holidays?

  1. Yeah, my nativity is glass too. I'll have to get a kid friendly one when I have kids.

    1. Even the pets make me nervous around the one my mom made! Heck I haven't burned any candles except our countdown one in years, guess I am just a nervous nelly but I am clumsy enough on my own, I don't need any help!

  2. We have a nativity that Gnome can play with, but it is just Joseph, Mary, and the baby. I have seen this Little People Nativity in the stores, and I want it for my girls so bad! It is a little expensive though.

    1. It is great for the kids to have something to interact with. I think the price went up drastically since I bought ours, I went to get a set for my nieces and it was crazy how much it was (and it wasn't even the singing one)! I do love this one though, it is so cute and will last for a long time, nearly indestructible.
