Bedtime Story: The Poky Little Puppy

Synopsis: "One of the original 12 Little Golden Books, The Poky Little Puppy has sold nearly 15 million copies since 1942, making it one of the most popular children’s books of all time. Now this curious little puppy is ready to win the hearts and minds of a new generation of kids."

My Review: Such a classic story! I think my grandmother read it to my father and my mother read it to me and now I am reading it to my Munchkin. It is definitely a story that stands the test of time. The images are bright and bold for little eyes. I am a little confused by the fact that no one seems to notice the poky puppy missing at dinner and bed time and also by the fact that puppies eat human desserts but who really cares. The story has a good message behind it. And well its just plain cute!

My Rating: A great classic for little ones and one that can be handed down for generations. We give it a rating of Four Paws!

After Dark Review of Fractured Moon by ER Pierce

I have added After Dark Reviews to my blog as a way of notifying you of a review of a book with Adult themes and scenes. From now on I will keep my reviews of all books I read that have explicit scenes in them for late night posts for those of you who prefer to avoid them or easy to find for those of you who seek them out ;)

Synopsis: "Aurelia Fridell will always be a freak. Born to werewolf parents, her twin brother Ville can shift forms, but she can't. Twenty-five years searching for answers yields nothing.

As her thirtieth birthday approaches, isolation creeps in, and worry settles in her gut. She accepted her existence long ago, and yet lately, she's felt off-kilter. Eyes follow her, prickling her senses. Her headaches are getting worse.

Is she paranoid, or is there really someone, or something, stalking her? Watching. Waiting. Drumming fingers to a sinister beat she can't hear.

Time will tell.

Ceithin Starkley isn't looking for a mate. Especially now. In fact, he doesn't believe in true-matings at all. While he is being recruited for a new job, a scent on the wind stuns him, and he finds himself fighting an inner battle he never wanted, yet can't ignore.

Sparks fly, as Ceithin and Aurelia fight fate and race against a clock neither knows is ticking.

Will he claim Aurelia before he loses her for good?

Warning: This book is sexy. Contains a drool-worthy Alpha male wearing Beta clothing. A sassy and sweet heroine with brains and brothers you'll adore. A best friend every girl would love to hate. I mean have. And an impossible road no one will see coming."

My Review: This was a middle of the road book for me, it had some great high points but also some low points. I will start first with what fell a little flat for me; I really did not like Aura at all. I would have thought I would love her as a main character, she has a bookstore and does a kids reading hour! But throughout the book it was said how strong she was mentally, but all I saw were breakdowns, until the end. I did however like Ceithin, and Aura's brothers. I also loved the building that Aura designed, it sounds like a fantastic retreat. The story line is also great with some surprising twists and a bad guy you would have never expected! It was a great story all in all, I just wasn't a fan of Aura. It does leave you with an open door and a need to read the next book.

My Rating: While not every thing about Fractured Moon jived with me, it was still a book I wanted to finish and couldn't put down.  I give it a rating of Three Paws.

Wednesday Writing

So Wednesday is my official writing update day. I have so many story projects going on and I need a push to get some done. So I will be trying to post each Wednesday about how my writing adventures are going (and I may need a swift kick in the pants by you guys sometimes).

Princess Bs - 32,131 words

A story about a woman, recently divorced and returned to her home town to figure out what is next. She encounters an old friend and spends a weekend with him and his daughters. Feelings that are long since buried are rising up again, but are her recent loss and his current life going to stand in the way of their happily ever after?

Night Rider - 17,229

Alice is a recent high school graduate who is a very accomplished competitive rider in Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, and Western/Rodeo. Her parents had arranged for her to attend a private college on the east coast geared specifically to equine professions. However, Alice wants to focus on her studies in English Literature. When she arrives at the college she hides her riding abilities, but can she keep her talent and love of horses hidden?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well another crazy busy week over here! I have actually gotten a decent amount of reading done but haven't had time to write up reviews yet.  Regular life has been busy, got Hubby's 30th birthday coming up and of course our annual Super Bowl party.  Unfortunately, our Munchkin has encountered some medical issues (nothing life threatening so don't worry) so there have been a several doctor appointments and some extra care at home. Needless to say my hands have been full as usual, but I am looking forward to sharing some more books with you in the coming weeks and months!
Hope you are all well!!
