Family Fun: Gardening with Munchkin

I have decided to add a new post to my list of things that could happen on the weekends.  As part of my resolutions for 2015, I wanted to do more fun things with Munchkin and as a family.  I will be posting sporadically about some of the fun adventures we are having together.

Spring finally arrived!! I thought we would stay in the low 40s forever but thankfully last weekend we hit the 60s and 70s.  I told Munchkin we could plant a garden earlier in the week and he was very excited.

We got all the supplies together and got ourselves geared up

I wasn't very good at planning and didn't get enough soil for the 3 planters but we did get one big one and a little one planted with carrots (rainbow and small growing ones), cucumbers, parsley, mint and spinach.

Munchkin was very helpful with the watering and has reminded me every day so far that we need to water the garden.  Later today we will be working on the last planter and planting zucchini, cilantro, sage and basil.

I didn't manage to take a lot of pictures because I got just as dirty as Munchkin but I will try to take new ones to share as the garden grows (as long as the darn squirrels don't dig it all up like they have in the past).

Do you have a garden planted? What are you growing?

  1. Fun fun! I'm not doing a garden this year. i love cucumbers and radishes and roma tomatoes but it's so hard keeping the earwigs out for me. Ugh!

    1. Ugh! I remember battling earwigs back in Wyoming too, disgusting little creatures! I am really looking forward to making salads fresh out of the garden.
