Bedtime Story: Pete the Cat and the Bedtime Blues by Kimberly & James Dean

Read for: Children's Book Challenge

Synopsis: "Join Pete the Cat in a story about bedtime in Pete the Cat and the Bedtime Blues by New York Times bestselling authors James and Kimberly Dean! Pete the Cat and his friends are having so much fun playing and surfing in the sun, they don't want the day to end. Pete has an idea—how about a sleepover? Groovy! As the night gets later, it's time for bed. This cool cat needs to catch some ZZZs, but Pete's friends aren't ready to go to sleep just yet. Then Pete has another idea. . . . Will it work?"

My Review: We are big Pete the Cat fans and of course had to get this one. For some reason I really had a hard time finding Pete's jazzy personality in this one and couldn't get into the rhythm of the story like usual. With that said this is a fun book, especially as kids get a little older and start having sleepovers. What is the best way to settle down to a good night's sleep? Pete seems to have the answer.

My Rating: I couldn't quite get into the rhyme and rhythm of this one but it was still a very fun Pete the Cat story.  Munchkin did enjoy it but it wasn't his favorite.  We give this one a rating of Three Paws.

Good Night!  Sweet Dreams!

  1. We love Pete too, but I agree that his other books don't have the same jazzy charm as the one about the buttons and his shoes.

    1. I think our favorite is the Magic Sunglasses, the jazzy beat comes out in that one really well. I am sure it is hard to keep that writing style up and have it come across that way every time.
