Review of The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst

Welcome to a month of Lust and Love!!
I will be sharing a variety of books with you all surrounding the theme of lust, love and all that lies between. I will have some sweet romances, some childrens love books, and of course plenty of After Dark Steam for all different tastes! Hope you will all stop in and join me!
Synopsis: "A marriage in name only...

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.

Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he’s offers Alexa a bold proposition.

A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?

Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…"

My Original Review: So I was planning on this just being a little fluff read after some of the more thought involved reading I have finished recently, but boy was I wrong. I became way more invested in this book than I expected. I absolutely adore everything about Alexa, she is the perfect character. Nick while he isn't an ideal guy in my eyes, he has so much more depth then what you would expect in a short romance novel. Even the subcharacters are fantastic, I really hope that Probst writes another book that involves Conte, I think I am in love!!! All in all a great read with plenty of laughs as well as emotional dips and peaks, it makes you keep turning the pages.
My Updated Review: So I re-read The Marriage Bargain since I now have the next two books in the series. I still absolutely love Alexa, and totally love Michael Conte (and thankfully his story is in the next book). Even though I had read it before and knew what was going to happen I was still completely involved and couldn't put the book down.

My Rating: I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't help but give it a Four Paw rating!

  1. These story lines always make me think movie not book. I love movies like this. I think that's why.

    1. It would make a great movie, a cute romantic comedy/ chic flick.

  2. The author is able to create complex, layered characters that are loveable. She creates a great amount of tension, propelling the story forward and making me unable to put it down.

    1. She really does do a great job! You can't help but feel like you have really gotten to know the characters and they are friends you could call up on a whim.
